Googong is a township in the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council area, with Jerrabomberra and Karabar on its northern side and Canberra about fifteen kilometres to the north-west. It takes its name from one of the area's largest early properties, whose stone homestead, later renamed Beltana, dates from the mid-nineteenth century. The Googong North Village Centre has a supermarket, GP clinic, pharmacy and allied health services alongside a community centre, while Beltana Park, Rockley Oval and the trails of Googong Common give residents room to play and walk.
Houses make up most Googong rentals, nearly all built since the first residents arrived. Newer homes tend to need fewer repairs, but they carry features an owner should understand. Recycled water reaches every home through a purple pipe network for gardens and toilet flushing, and items such as solar panels, where fitted, need occasional servicing. Gardens on newer blocks are still establishing, so agreeing on lawn and garden care at the start of a tenancy avoids confusion later, and keeping builder warranties on file helps with any defects.
Googong draws renters with its newer homes, parks, playgrounds and sports fields, and a village centre with a supermarket and medical services, while Queanbeyan and Canberra are within driving distance.
Most of the homes we have leased in Googong are houses.

Googong questions
Do Googong homes run on recycled water, and does that matter for a rental?
Yes. Recycled water reaches Googong homes through a separate purple pipe network for non-drinking uses such as garden watering and toilet flushing, while drinking water comes through the regular supply. For a rental it mostly matters at handover: we explain which taps and fittings are which and note any recycled water connections in the condition report, so the household knows from day one.
Where do Googong renters shop and get services?
Everyday needs are covered at the Googong North Village Centre, which has a supermarket, GP clinic, dentist, pharmacy and other health services plus a community centre. For larger shopping, hospital care and work, residents generally head to Queanbeyan, about ten kilometres north, or into Canberra. We include those distances in listings so applicants can picture the weekly routine.
Rentals in Googong run under the Residential Tenancies Act 2010 (NSW). Our landlord FAQs cover bonds, notice and rent increases. This is general information from Distinct Property Management, licensed in NSW and the ACT, not legal advice. NSW rules differ from the ACT's.
