Property managers in Isaacs, ACT

Isaacs is one of the younger suburbs of Woden Valley in the ACT: it was named in 1966, but homes only arrived around two decades later. Ngunawal Drive and Yamba Drive mark its edges, and Isaacs Ridge Nature Reserve lies within it. Distinct Properties manages rental homes across the Woden Valley district, including Isaacs, with property management for its townhouses and houses. Distinct Properties has arranged at least 6 leases in Isaacs, 5 of them since January 2020, when its records became complete.
Isaacs commemorates Sir Isaac Isaacs, who served as Chief Justice and became the first Governor-General born in Australia, while its street names honour figures from Australian education. Although the name was gazetted in 1966, houses were not built until much later, so its homes are generally younger than the houses of Woden's first suburbs. Isaacs Ridge Nature Reserve forms its eastern backdrop, with the Centenary Trail passing through and dedicated mountain bike trails in the neighbouring Isaacs Pines recreation area. Neighbours include O'Malley, Mawson and Farrer.
Isaacs rentals include townhouses as well as houses. Because they went up later than the original Woden suburbs, these homes can have more modern layouts, yet fittings such as ovens, hot water systems, heating and carpets may now be near the end of their working life. Townhouse owners also share the cost of common areas through an owners corporation, so we keep its rules and contacts on file and send shared-area issues to the right people.
Isaacs Ridge's trails and the mountain bike tracks at Isaacs Pines draw renters who like to walk or ride, and routes 60 and 61 link the suburb with Canberra Hospital, Mawson and the Woden Interchange.

Isaacs questions
Are Isaacs homes newer than those in Woden's first suburbs?
Generally, yes. Isaacs was named in 1966, the same year as neighbouring Farrer and Mawson, but its houses only went up around two decades later, whereas building in Hughes and Chifley began in the sixties. That can mean more modern floor plans, though hot water systems, ovens and heating may still be due for replacement. We assess these at our first walk-through.
What should an Isaacs townhouse owner check before the first tenant moves in?
Test every appliance, heater and garage door remote, replace worn flooring or blinds, and gather spare keys, fobs and manuals. Ask the owners corporation for the complex rules, visitor parking arrangements and any scheduled works on common areas, so nothing catches the tenant by surprise. We put all of this into the move-in pack and record the townhouse's condition with dated photos.
Rentals in Isaacs run under the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 (ACT). Our landlord FAQs cover bonds, notice and rent increases. This is general information about ACT tenancy law and real estate agent conduct from Distinct Property Management, a licensed ACT real estate agency, not legal advice. Rules differ in NSW and other states. For a dispute, contact the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal (ACAT) or a Canberra tenancy advocate.
